2 weeks ago, Word List Lite appeared on App Store, and it received great response, we received emails pointing out bugs, suggesting new features, and some, applauding as well

I have been working on improvements (mostly in my spare time), Word List Premium will hopefully be submitted to App Store by next week end. Here are two screens to give you an idea of what the next version would look like.

Changes:

1. The words and definitions are now coming from WordNet. Definitions also include type of word (verb, noun, etc) and examples sentences now.
2. Flip button has been replaced with Shuffle button (top right), it can be used to shuffle the current word list
3. More flexibility for word categorization i.e. easy/medium/hard. List Selection Screen (not shown here) also has buttons for these categories for each list (which appear only if there are some categorized words in a list i.e. “Hard” button will not appear in a front of a list if there are no “hard” words in it)
4. User can tap on the card to show word’s definition and double-tap to go to next card.
5. The Flip animation has been removed, it proved to be very distracting when using the app for long hours
6. Animations for next/previous card has been replaced with simpler and less distracting animations (i hope so )
7. List Selection screen now opens at the last selected word list (i.e. if you were practicing list 37, you won’t have to scroll all the way down from list 01, it would open with list 37 visible on the screen).
8. and Some UI bug fixes and other enhancements which may not be readily visible to end user =)

Tintash (my workplace) has recently updated its site and they have put caricatures and short bios of the whole team in the ‘about’ section. Here’s what I look like:

It’s not so true representation of me since I, usually, do not dress formally around here, it does look pretty funny though =)

Over the last few days I have been working on a vocabulary building app. Today we are submitting it to App Store. Once it is available for public downloads, I’ll post a link to it here. For now, take a look at some of the (pre-release ) screen shots below.

The app remembers the card you were looking at when you close it, and goes straight to it next time.

It supports gestures in conjunction with buttons, to browse the words and meanings. If user slides his/her finger horizontally, next/previous words are shown, sliding finger vertically flips the card.

“Remove Card” removes the card from a word list (it can’t be undone and should be used to remove words that are already familiar to the user).
