I am a graduate from University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, Pakistan and I passed out in Dec 2006 with a gold/university medal for overall best performance (My aggregate score was 85.09%).
As my senior year project, we (a team of two) developed an image processing application for writer identification of handwritten documents. We proposed Contour Based Classification (a novel enhancement) that greatly improves the accuracy of the results and won Overall Best Prize Among All Categories in ITEC’06 (a nationwide software contest) held on Dec 23 and Dec 2006. There were three categories: 1. Scientific and Engineering Applications, 2. Business Automation, 3. Embedded Systems and Robotics, Our project was enrolled in the First Category (Scientific and Engineering Application).
A couple of research papers are currently under process (the long delay to publishing can be blamed on, in part, my laziness and, in part, my busy schedule at my office).
Right after my graduation, I joined Techlogix (Pvt) Ltd. I work there as a Software Engineer. The long term goals are to build a software company of my own :).
